UCpreps.com Would like to congratulate Zach Panek as the UCFBCA          Scholarship Winner

     Zach Panek has been chosen as the winner of the Union County Football Coaches Association Scholarship. The Association is made up of coaches all across the area as well as a few members of the media, it was founded by Coach Mike Pope of Hawgtuff camps. 2012 was the first year of the association and it was already able to award its first Lineman’s Scholarship. Zach Panek, the recipient, is a Senior at Cuthbertson High School in Waxhaw, NC. Although he has been a four year starter on the Varsity Football team and has all of the All County and All Conference accolades you could expect, it is his Leadership off the field that truly makes him a winner. Zach is highly respected both by his peers as well as by the staff at Cuthbertson High. He has been there for former team mates. When the loss of a former player’s younger brother and a member of the Cuthbertson family unexpectedly passed away, it was Zach Panek that took it upon himself to purchase memorial decals for the team to place on their helmet in honor of the fallen Caviler for the 2011 season. Zach isn’t all about the past or present though, he is also a visionary, someone who cares about the future. That fact is evident as Zach is also a coach for the 7th grade Football team at the middle school, a job that Zach has taken very seriously. According to Coach Mike Roark, Zach has been at all the practices and games. What’s just as impressive is the fact that while being involved in all this Zach has maintained a 3.2 GPA even though he is in several advanced classes. Zach plans on going into the Physical Therapy Field and playing College Football somewhere. With the determination he has already shown, it’s obvious Zach Panek can achieve whatever he sets his mind to. Congratulations again Zach on winning the Union County Football Coaches Association Lineman Scholarship for 2012!
